Voting is an integral part of democracy, and people must have a voice. On 15 April 2024, to spread awareness of voting, Uttaranchal School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Uttaranchal University organized an Awareness Campaign on the theme Voting is not only a right but also a duty to us. The Awareness Campaign was held on the outskirts of Kalsi Village, Dehradun. The campaign included Nukkad Natak played by the students of USJMC and vox pop of the village locals about their knowledge of voter IDs and their rights to vote. Through Nukkad Natak, the students enacted how voting is very important for a democratic country and that is why everyone should vote wisely and necessarily. The students also spread knowledge about NOTA and EVMs to the locals. This campaign was admired by the locals as it made them understand the importance of voting well. Dr Sakshi Negi, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event with Ms Ishani Karki, Assistant Professor, and Mr Sushant Rana under the supervision of Dr Shravan Kumar, Dean SLA.
