The PC and PNDT Cell of the CMO Office Dehradun in collaboration with the Women Cell of Law College Dehradun under the aegis of Uttaranchal University, organized a comprehensive one-day district-level Sensitization Workshop on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC and PNDT) on 6 March 2024. The workshop aimed to raise awareness and educate healthcare professionals and students about the importance of ethical practices in prenatal care and the prevention of sex-selective abortions.

With over 100 doctors and students in attendance, the workshop provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and knowledge exchange on critical issues surrounding PC and PNDT. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, discussions, and presentations, delving into topics such as the legal framework governing PC and PNDT, ethical considerations, and the societal implications of sex-selective abortions. The distinguished presence of Mr Harsh Yadav, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DALSA), as the chief guest along with ACMO Dr Dinesh Chauhan, Prosecuting officer Ms Mamta Manaduli, Dr Sumita Prabhakar, added gravitas to the event. Mr Yadav's insightful address underscored the importance of upholding the rights of the girl child and emphasized the role of healthcare professionals in ensuring ethical practices and gender equality.

The collaboration between the PC and PNDT Cell and the Women Cell of Law College Dehradun exemplifies the commitment of both organizations to address pressing social issues and promote gender equality. By fostering dialogue and awareness, the workshop served as a catalyst for change, empowering participants to become advocates for ethical healthcare practices and champions for the rights of the girl child. As we reflect on the discussions and insights shared during the workshop, let us renew our collective resolve to promote gender equality and ensure the protection and well-being of every child, regardless of gender.
