Women Cell of Uttaranchal College of Nursing under the aegis of Women Cell, Uttaranchal University celebrated International Women’s Day on 06 March 2024. An expert talk titled “Nourish & Flourish: Empowering Life with Yoga & Diet” was organized. Three hundred plus girl students participated in the event.
The event commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony, invoking the divine presence of Goddess Saraswati. Dignitaries and guests joined hands to kindle the flame of the ceremonial lamp. After the opening remarks, Neha Tiwari, a fifth-semester B Sc Nursing student, mesmerized the audience by her traditional dance.
This was followed by an inspiring address by Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor and Ms Ankita Joshi, Pro Chancellor to the audience, honoring the vital contributions of women in sustaining mankind and encouraging them to pursue their goals and aspirations with unwavering determination.
A speech highlighting the International Women’s Day, 2024 theme, “Inspire Inclusion” was delivered by Bushra Khan, student of BPT II Semester and Nitika Rana, student of BMLT II Semester. The Guest speakers for the event were Dr Mehak Katyal, Nutrition and Dietetics Expert and Dr Rajesh Kumar, Yoga Expert. Dr Mehak Katyal enlightened students on making informed choices about their nutrition, adopting mindful dietary choices tailored to women's specific needs along with imparting practical knowledge and skills to foster a balanced approach to nutrition. Dr Rajesh Kumar highlighted the myriad benefits that yoga asanas offer, like early morning palm rub “Sukshma kriya” on face to awaken senses, promote circulation, and prepare the body to start day with renewed sense of vitality and well-being.
The event was coordinated by Ms Nidhi Sharma and Ms Beena along with the students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Nidhi Sharma to the dignitaries, guests and all the students present at the gathering.
