Nukkad Natak on occasion of Women’s Day

The Women's Cell of the School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University celebrated International Women's Day on 11 March 2024. The goal of this event was to promote awareness of women's empowerment and gender equality among students. The event was graced by Chief Guest, Ms Ankita Joshi, Pro-Chancellor, Guest of Honour, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor and Dr Poonam Rawat, University Chairperson of the Women Cell. 

The event was started with welcome note by Prof (Dr) Mahipal Singh, Dean, SOA and welcomed them by bouquet. Prof (Dr) Mahipal expressed his gratitude to all the distinguished guests for attending this ceremony. Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat addressed the participants and explained the main theme of Women Day Celebration and highlighted the working culture for the gender equality in the university campus.  

Jyoti Kumari, a student of B Sc (Hons) Agriculture recited a poem on women's equality. She brought attention of all audiences towards the obsoleting dowry system and empowerment of the women in India. The students of Agriculture also presented a dance drama/ Nukkad Natak and showcased some of the issues like acid attacks, gender discrimination of girl children not allowed to go to the school, and suggested solutions for improvement in society.  

Dr Rajesh Bahuguna motivated all agricultural students for upliftment of women farmers in Uttarakhand and acknowledged the successful organization of this event. Ms Ankita Joshi blessed all student participants congratulated organizing committee for improving social awareness for the women empowerment and gender equality. She ensured all students for zero tolerance policy for any discrimination of girl student and women in the campus. Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, Chairperson, Cultural and Event Committee and UNI co-ordinator appreciated the performance of the students. Dr Neha Saini, Event Coordinator & Coordinator, Women Cell proposed a vote of thanks. This event was anchored by Pragya Kala, B Sc (Hons) Agriculture, IV Semester.
