Women Cell of Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences and Uttaranchal College of Nursing under the aegis of Women cell, Uttaranchal University celebrated International Women’s Day on 6 March 2024. An expert talk on “Nourish & Flourish: Empowering Life with Yoga & Diet” was attended by more than 300 girls. The event commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony. Following the opening address, Ms Neha Tiwari, student of B.Sc. Nursing performed a dance on “Shri Ram Stuti”.
This was followed by an inspiring address by Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Ms Ankita Joshi, Pro Chancellor, honoring the vital contributions of women and encouraging them to pursue their goals and aspirations.
A speech highlighting the 2024 theme, “Inspire Inclusion” was delivered by Bushra Khan and Nitika Rana from UCHS. The speakers eloquently addressed the significance of this day and emphasized the importance of continued advocacy to advance women’s empowerment.
The speakers for the event Dr Mehak Katyal, Nutrition and Dietetics Expert and Dr Rajesh Kumar, Yoga Expert, shared their experiences in their respective areas. Dr Mehak Katyal enlightened students on making informed choices about nutrition along with imparting practical knowledge to foster a balanced approach to nutrition.
Dr Rajesh Kumar highlighted the myriad benefits that yoga asanas offer, like early morning palm rub “Sukshma kriya” to awaken senses and “Shavasana” as a potent antidote to the stress and strain of modern living. The students enthusiastically participated, creating an engaging atmosphere.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Nidhi Sharma. The event was organized and coordinated by Ms Nidhi Sharma and Ms. Beena, members of Women Cell, Uttaranchal University and students’ volunteers from UCHS and UCN, under the guidance of Dr Kartikey, Jt Registrar.
