Uttaranchal University celebrates International Matrabhasha Diwas

 

On International Matrabhasha Diwas, the University Literary Club organized "Mic Drop," a dynamic multilingual singing and rapping competition aimed at celebrating linguistic diversity and cultural heritage. The event served as a platform for students to showcase their talents while paying homage to their native languages. 

Shri Jitendra Joshi, Chancellor, Ms Ankita Joshi, Pro-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director, Student Affair and Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean Student Welfare graced the event with their esteemed presence. Prof (Dr) Anil Kumar Dixit, Chairperson, Uttaranchal Literary Club, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries by presenting each of them with a sapling. The panel of judges included Dr Pinki Chugh, Dr Reeta Rautela, and Dr Megha Badoni. 

The event was meticulously coordinated by Mr Shubham Joshi and Dr Anil Dixit and a dedicated team of student volunteers under the supervision of Dean Student Welfare.  

The participants enthralled the audience with captivating performances in a myriad of languages, showcasing the linguistic diversity of the region.  From traditional folk songs to contemporary rap verses, contestants demonstrated remarkable creativity in blending various linguistic and musical elements. 

Divya Prakash Shrivastava concluded the event by extending heartfelt gratitude to all participants, judges, dignitaries, organizers, and attendees for their invaluable contributions in making "Mic Drop" on International Matrabhasha Diwas a resounding success. 

Abhinav and Prayag Raj mesmerised the audience with a soul-stirring Rajasthani performance. They secured the first spot in the competition. Gauri Joshi showcased exceptional vocal prowess in Garhwali language and stood as the runner up.  

Dr Abhishek Joshi, graciously extended his congratulations to the winners, acknowledging their exceptional talent and dedication. In recognition of their outstanding achievements, he presented each winner with a trophy, symbolizing their triumph, and a substantial cash prize.
