The University Sports Committee at Uttaranchal University, in collaboration with the Sports Club at the Uttaranchal Institute of Management, organized a captivating Intra-College Basketball Tournament on February 23-24, 2024. With spirited displays of talent and sportsmanship, participants showcased their basketball prowess, representing different departments and batches. The tournament featured five boys' and girls' teams, intensifying the competitive spirit among the participants. 

In an exciting outcome, the boys' team from UIM and the girls' team from the School of Applied and Life Sciences emerged victorious, demonstrating their dedication and expertise in the game. Arpit from UIM was honored as the best player among the boys, while Georgia Bernard stood out as the best player among the girls. Additionally, the first runner-up positions were secured by the Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT) team for boys and the Law College Dehradun team for girls. 

The champions from UIM proudly claimed both the prestigious trophy and a cash reward of Rs. 3100 while UIT secured the second position in the boys' category, earning a commendable prize of Rs. 2100. In the girl’s category SALS received a cash prize worth Rs. 3100 while LCD received Rs. 2100 as second prize.  

The Hon’ble Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Shri Jitender Joshi, along with Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Rajesh Bahuguna, presented the winners' trophy and cash prizes. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean of UIM, extended heartfelt congratulations to the victorious students for their remarkable achievement. Dr Tilottama Singh, Head of the Department, also expressed her warm wishes to the winning teams, acknowledging their dedication and hard work. 

The tournament's success was attributed to the University Sports Committee, the Sports Club, and all participating teams' collaborative efforts. Mr Hardev Singh, the Sports Head of UIM, efficiently coordinated the event, ensuring its smooth execution.
