Law College Dehradun organized a Legal Awareness camp on 19 February 2024 under the aegis of the Legal Aid Centre, in collaboration with the Pro Bono Club at Junior High School situated in Aamwala, Dehradun which aimed at ascertaining the social and legal issues faced by the students as well as the school administration. The camp was successfully conducted with esteemed dignitaries including Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Principal, and Mr Abhiranjan Dixit, Chairperson, Legal Aid Centre and Faculty-in-charge, and the Pradhan of the Aamwala region.
Mr Sudeep Chandra, explained about the Pro Bono Club Scheme running under the aegis of Ministry of Law & Justice and the objective of the Camp. Ashmeet Kaur delivered a comprehensive speech on the legal provisions related to the maintenance of women, children, and elderly individuals. Jagriti Pant highlighted the significance of FIR in initiating the legal process, investigating crimes, and ensuring justice for victims, while Tanya, addressed the issue of gender equality in the workplace, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities for both men and women. The organizers collected feedback and grievances from the local citizens and students, addressing their concerns and providing legal guidance where necessary. Thumb impressions were also obtained from participants to signify their support for legal empowerment initiatives.
The legal awareness camp proved to be a valuable platform for educating local citizens and fostering community engagement and empowerment, laying the foundation for a more legally aware and empowered society.
