Law College Dehradun faculty of Uttaranchal University organised a Seminar on, “An Insight into the Different Dimensions of Gita Sutras” on 23 February 2024. The keynote speaker for the event was Mr Sanjay Singh, Founder of Gita Values, Spiritual Teacher and Vedic Scholar. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director, Uttaranchal University. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi graced the event along with the other members of Uttaranchal University including faculty members and students.  

 

Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna in his address underscored the invaluable knowledge passed down through generations, integrating traditions and practices in fields like law and medicine. Further, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi shared profound insights on the timeless relevance of the Bhagavad Gita.  

 

The seminar began with Mr Sanjay Singh by illustrating how even a nation as self-sufficient as China found value in the Bhagavad Gita, translating it into Chinese. He elucidated how our lives often follow repetitive patterns, influencing our minds, and emphasized the Gita's role in breaking these patterns, fostering focus. Expressing concern over prevalent mental health issues like depression, stress, and substance abuse, Mr. Singh highlighted the alarming market size of drugs in India, exceeding Rs. 20 lakh crores, and the rising suicide rates Addressing contemporary issues, Mr. Singh discussed the adverse impact of social media on mental health, lamenting the erosion of traditional values instilled by parents. Notably, this seminar marked the inaugural session of the Indian Knowledge System course initiated by Uttaranchal University on the Bhagavad Gita. 

 

Prof. Dr Poonam Rawat, Principal, Law College Dehradun, extended her gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty members, technical staff, the organizing team, and participants, concluding the event with a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
