Law College Dehradun organised National Elocution Competition on 13 October 2023, on the theme “The Interplay of Space Exploration and Environmental Sustainability: A Cosmic Perspective” under the aegis of Vasundhara- The Green Society. A total of 40 students participated from various eminent universities across the nation in the competition organised with an aim to bring together brilliant minds from across the nation on a single platform, providing them the opportunity to speak on this relevant issue.
The event started with the presence of Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahaguna Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor , Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, HoD , Prof (Dr) Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri chairperson of Vasundhara- The Green Society along with our respected judges for the event K Shama Gupta, member URSD/ERSSG Department with research expertise in urban planning, urban climate, microclimate & urban green spaces, Prof. Dr. Anil Kumar Dixit, Dr. Manish Bhardwaj, Mr. Ujjwal Kumar Singh, and Dr. Lakshmipriya Vinjamuri. The key learnings from the orators were that space tourism is a matter of concern because rocket requires fuel and they emit aluminium oxide and when it comes in contact with oxygen it creates heat that leads to a rise in the temperature of the earth and we shall check whether we are counter balancing our development with the environment, due to the launching of space rockets black carbon is emitted and is this space exploration worth all this pollution.
The session was concluded by Dr Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Chairperson, Vasundhara- The Green Society declaring the results of the competition with the Winner as Nandini Ravishankar & Runner Up as Shivani Gupta who won a cash prize of INR 1500 & 1000 respectively and Mr Sagar Tiwari Vice President proposed the vote of thanks.
