School of Agriculture (SOA) organized a Skill Development Programme on “Management of Cropping System and Crop Diversification in Local Area” on 22nd September 2023 for the students of M Sc Ag (Agronomy), Semester III. The students were taken to the university agriculture field at Kotra Santor, where the subject expert coordinator Ms. Mansi Nautiyal demonstrated the identifying features of the mono-cropping system. She also described standard operations used for optimizing the yield of crops growing under the mono cropping systems.
In addition, another subject expert, Ms Diksha Nautyal, Assistant Professor, SOA demonstrated the prominent features and the advantages of Multistoried cropping, Inter-Cropping and Silvi-pasture cropping systems. The students were motivated to identify the above cropping systems in the local farms during the program. 19 students participated in this program. Students asked their doubts during the visit in local field which were rectified appropriately by subject experts who were coordinating this program.
