Epiphany: UU ELTAI Reading Club organized a ‘Workshop on Reading Strategies for Research and Innovation’ on 13 April 2023, wherein Dr K. Elango, National Secretary, ELTAI was invited as the resource person. Dr. Shravan Kumar, Dean of the school of Liberal Arts, welcomed Dr. Elango and emphasised the importance of research and innovation for the progress of society in his address. Dr. Elango talked about the structure of English as a language being taught and read by the students today. He threw light on the reading trends being followed by the youth in the contemporary world. He made the students acquainted with the various approaches that can be implemented for understanding a particular text. While these approaches would make the process of reading comprehension, they would also enhance the interest of the reader. He shared innovative ideas relating to the methods that can be opted for sustaining a person’s interest in reading in a technologically driven age. Dr. Elango’s lecture was supplanted by various videos, presentations and activities designed for the students. While the workshop fostered the students’ love for reading, it also enhanced their ability to read effectively such that they can contribute in the domain of research in the future. The entire event was coordinated by Dr Anubhuti Dhyani, the coordinator of the Reading club.
