College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University conducted the sixth edition
of Srijan-6.0 on 6th December 2022 under the aegis of the Rotaract
Club. Srijan-6.0 was a socio-legal discussion forum on the topic “Exclusion
of ST/SC/OBC categories from EWS quota a violation of the basic structure or a
step forward towards taking an affirmative action to combat poverty in India”.
The event commenced with the welcoming speech by the anchors of the event Ms.
Silky Jain and Mr. Anant Agarwal. Following which the President of the society,
Ms. Ananya Gosain, declared the event open. The event was divided into two phases
and was moderated by Ms.Neetu Banduni and Mr.Anirudh Gahlot. In the first
phase, the panels were given the legal, social, economic, and political
aspects, each panel was provided by the time limit of ten minutes to put forth
their views. After which Ms. Neetu Banduni summed up all the points discussed
in that phase and highlighted that there are primarily two sides of discussion
to the topic as discussed by the panelists, which are either in the favor of
EWS Quota believing it not to be violative of the basic structure and the other
wherein EWS Quota is believed to be violation of the basic structure of the Constitution.
After which the phase-II of the discussion commenced which was an open
discussion, wherein the panelists were not restricted to their panel, and
counter questioned each other.
The
discussion concluded with certain suggestive points by the moderator Mr.Anirudh
Gahlot who also went on to summarize the points discussed among the speakers. Further,
Prof Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna sir, Dean, Law College Dehradun, addressed the
gathering with his words of wisdom and also announced two special mentions that
were awarded to the panelists Mr. Swapnil Shrivastava and Ms.Vastavikta
Bhardwaj respectively. While the other participants were provided with a certificate
of participation. The event came to an end with the vote of thanks given by Mr.
Amit Chaudhary, Chairperson, Rotaract Club, Law College Dehradun.
