The Department of Physics under the aegis of School of Applied and Life Sciences (Uttaranchal University) organized a guest lecture for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Physicsand M.Sc. Physicson the topic “Variation of Atmospheric Parameters and Its Impact on Weather and Climate” on 6th December 2022.
The key Resource person was Dr. Alok Sagar Gautam, is one of the Prominent, Young Researcher at the Department of Physics at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (A Central University), Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand (India) University. He has pursued his PhD from “Indian Institute of Tropical Meterology” Pune and has also received the top Junior Associateship from International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Italy.
Prof. Dr. Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS, Prof. Dr. B.S. Rawat, HOD Physics and Dr. Sanjeev Kimothi from R& I welcomed the resource person, all the dignitaries, members of faculty and all present students. Dr. Hemlata Sharma introduced the topic of the day and the guest speaker to the audience. The resource person, Dr. Alok Sagar Gautam introduced students about India’s Highest Cloud observatory (HCO) at Swami Ram Teerth Campus, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar Uttarakhand and explained, the area of Cloud Physics/Dynamics. It will be helpful for making assessment about the weather in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand India. His lecture was followed by question and answer sessions, where he answered several interesting questions asked by first and final year students of M.Sc and B Sc (Hons.) Physics.
This Guest Lecture turned out to be a huge success with the support of Dr. B. S. Rawat (HOD, Physics), Prof. Dr. Ajay Singh, Dean SALS, Dr. Reena Dhyani, Dr. Hemlata Sharma, Dr. Narinder Kumar. The event was graced by Dr. B.S. Rawat, HOD, Physics and other faculty members of the Department. The event was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof (Dr.) B.S. Rawat, President of Eureka Science Club.
The Guest lecture proved to be extremely beneficial and informative for the students and helped them to gather information about the atmospheric parameters and cloud dynamics in Srinagar, Garhwal valley. The students extended their gratitude towards the department for facilitating the organization of the lecture.
