Law College Dehradun organized an Intra University poster making competition to celebrate the auspicious occasion of “Uttarakhand Sthapna Diwas” on 10 November 2022, under the aegis of Legal Aid Center. The theme for the competition was “Pahado se Palayan” in which the Participants had to express their insightful views on the crucial issue of rapid migration in the holy land. In this competition, 33 teams participated out of which 12 teams qualified for the final round. The event was marked by the presence of Prof. (Dr) Poonam Rawat ma’am (HOD law college Dehradun), faculty members, and Society Members of the Legal Aid Centre. Dr. Bharti Ramola and Mrs. Madhu Kairola were invited as the judges of the event.
The participants came up with diverse
perspectives, where they expressed that the root causes of migration were Lack
of proper education and basic health facilities. Some defined migration as a
want for modern lifestyle. The solution which they came up was to establish small-scale
industries in villages, more emphasis on agricultural resources, and
opportunities to the youth for their self-development will work wonders.
Unanimously one concern expressed by the participants were that majorly the cultural
practices of ‘Gahwali’ and ‘Kumaoni’
might get lost somewhere amid the captivating lights of the cities.
Toward the end of the competition, the
judges appreciated everybody’s work and efforts in expressing their views on
the topic and conveyed their contentment that the youth is taking the problem
seriously and is striving to work hard towards it.
