Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on 2nd October every year which marks the Birth Anniversary of Bapu and this year the nation celebrates the 153rd Birth Anniversary. Gandhi Jayanti is also celebrated as International Non-Violence Day worldwide to pay respect to Gandhi's ideologies and his teachings of non-violence “Ahimsa”.
Uttaranchal University under the aegis of ZENITH: The Literary Club of the School of Liberal Arts in collaboration with the National Service Scheme has organized an Essay Writing Competition ‘INGENIUM’ on 30 September 2022 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the father of the Nation Sri Manmohan Das Karamchand Gandhi. The purpose of the event is to spread the message and the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi and to encourage young minds to use their creativity and knowledge and pen down something extraordinary. This event is an amalgamation of the true vision of what Mahatma Gandhi saw for the young generations, a future free of hate and violence and full of creativity and knowledge.
The program was coordinated by Ms. Sharon Lal, coordinator of “ZENITH: The Literary Club” under the guidance of Dr. Pinki Chugh and Dr. Reeta Rautela and all the student coordinators of the Literary Club and all the faculty of SLA. Student coordinators and Dr. Pinky Chugh played a major role in making this event successful. Participation from the whole university was a leading factor in this event’s success by writing their wonderful essays. Events started with a brief introduction about the event and then a presentation was shown to the participants about the rules and regulations. After the participants were given the topic for the Essay Writing Competition “UNTOUCHABLES TO HARIJANS- A journey of the untouchables to become the children of the gods”. The participants wrote beautiful essays and then they were sent for evaluation and the event ended on a beautiful note with the National Anthem.
