Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, under the banner of Pharmacology Club, Uttaranchal University organized a free health awareness and checkup camp on the occasion of World TB Day, 24 March 2022 in Junior High School, Kotla Santoor, Dehradun. Dr. Rishabh Joshi, MBBS, and his renowned team attended the camp. After checking, the doctor prescribed necessary medication, actions, and precautions if needed to be taken. Besides health checkup, Patient counseling and distribution of Medicine was also done by the Pharmacy Students of Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
In the camp, 80 patients have registered for the checkup of major complaints like Gastric problems, underweight, rashes, Common flu, etc for which they were provided with the appropriate medicine as prescribed by the team of doctors. Apart from this BMI of the school children, Blood sugar, and Blood Pressure of school staff was also checked by the pharmacy students of the university and also provided with basic counseling and awareness on Tuberculosis and other ailments and the use of medicines.
The Camp was conceptualized and conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean, UIPS, Dr Amit Semwal, HoD, UIPS. According to the Dean of UIPS Dr. Vikash Jakhmola one of the best practices of Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is Health Care Initiative. To continue this practice, this Health Awareness and Check-up Camp was organised on World TB Day observed by WHO to commemorate the day Dr. Robert Koch discovered TB bacillus on 24 March.
The Camp was coordinated by Mrs. Pallavi Ghildiyal, Assistant Professor, UIPS, Mrs. Nidhi Gairola, Assistant Professor, UIPS, and Dr. Ankit Sharma, Assistant Professor, UIPS with Mr Peeush Yadav and Ms. Neha Singh, Mr. Aayush and Mr. Utkarsh Trivedi as the student member of the Pharmacology Club.
Vote of thanks was proposed by the Principal Mrs. Usha Juwantha of Junior High School, Kotla Santoor, Dehradun. She expressed their vote of thanks towards Honorable Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharm Buddhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean of UIPS, Dr. Vikash Jakhmola for the successful organisation of event.
