Uttaranchal College of Nursing (UCN), Uttaranchal University, observed World Heart Day with the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat”, focusing on cardiovascular health, prevention of heart attacks, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices.
The programme featured Dr. Neelesh Chandra Pandey, Chief Cardiologist, Velmed Hospital, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the students, Dr. Pandey discussed common heart conditions, warning signs of a heart attack, and preventive measures to reduce cardiovascular risks. He also emphasized the importance of timely medical intervention and awareness of heart health.
Dr. Midhu Kurian, Principal, Uttaranchal College of Nursing, welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of regular physical activity, healthy habits, and preventive healthcare, particularly among nursing professionals. Dr. Amit Bhatt, Campus Director, encouraged students to lead healthy and active lifestyles and to become ambassadors of health awareness in the community.
A theme-based student drama on heart health and prevention of drug abuse was presented, highlighting the importance of making healthy choices and avoiding risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases. The programme also included a practical CPR workshop conducted by Dr. Amitanshu from Uttaranchal Hospital & Diagnostic Centre, where students gained hands-on knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency response.
Faculty members from Uttaranchal College of Nursing and the Department of Pharmacy actively participated in the programme. Representatives from Velmed Hospital, including Mr. Rahul Dora, AGM; Mr. Abhishek Bhatnagar, BDM; and Ms. Sneha Bhatt, Camp Head, were also present.
The programme provided students with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of cardiovascular health, emergency care, and preventive practices, reinforcing the vital role of healthcare professionals in promoting heart health and saving lives.
