The School of Liberal Arts organised an educational visit to Amar Ujala Press, Selaqui, Dehradun, on 18 September 2026 for the students of the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC) programme from Semesters I, III, and V. Accompanied by faculty members from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, the students participated in this experiential learning initiative designed to provide first-hand exposure to the functioning of a leading newspaper organisation and the dynamics of the print media industry.
The visit commenced with an informative presentation highlighting the history, growth, and operational framework of Amar Ujala. Students were introduced to the various stages of newspaper production, from news gathering and editing to page design, printing, and distribution. An engaging interactive session with media professionals further enabled students to gain valuable insights into contemporary journalism and industry practices
One of the most significant highlights of the visit was the live demonstration of the newspaper printing process. Students observed advanced printing machinery in operation and developed a deeper understanding of the technological and logistical aspects involved in large-scale newspaper production. The experience became particularly memorable when a special edition featuring the students’ group photograph on the front page was printed and presented to them. Participants also received books published by Amar Ujala as a token of appreciation.
The visit provided a meaningful platform for bridging classroom learning with professional practice. By offering direct exposure to real-world media operations, it enhanced students’ understanding of journalism, print communication, and newspaper production processes. Overall, the educational visit proved to be an enriching and insightful learning experience that strengthened industry awareness, fostered professional curiosity, and encouraged experiential learning among aspiring media professionals.
