Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme on 18th August 2026, as part of Anti-Ragging Week to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. The program was included in the annual Orientation cum Induction Program, Deeksharambh 2026, and commenced with an address by the Director, UCHS, who warmly welcomed the students. The Director emphasised that ragging is not a tradition or rite of passage, but a serious violation of dignity, safety, and professional ethics and reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of ragging, encouraging senior students to act as mentors, friends, and guides for their juniors.
A short film on ragging was also screened to help students understand its emotional, psychological, and social consequences, as well as the importance of timely reporting and support for affected students. This was followed by a Speech Competition in which students shared their views on themes such as Ragging: Not Tradition, But a Violation of Dignity, Role of Students in Creating a Ragging-Free Campus, From Ragging to Respect, Respect for Diversity and Inclusion, and Professionalism Begins with Respect. An E-Poster Presentation Competition was also conducted on the theme, “Ragging-Free Campus: Be the Change,” where students presented creative posters carrying messages of empathy, equality, mutual respect, and responsible behaviour.
