The School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, witnessed the ceremonial commencement of Deeksharambh 2026 at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, marking a new academic journey for newly admitted students. The inaugural ceremony was graced by President Shri Jitendra Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna.
Director, School of Liberal Arts Prof. (Dr.) Kartikey welcomed new students, encouraging holistic learning and critical thinking. The Oath-taking Ceremony, administered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, urged students to uphold integrity, discipline, and responsibility. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi encouraged students toward holistic learning and continuous growth.
The program featured a Career Quest talk and an Expert Session with senior news anchor and Deputy News Head, Raftaar Media, Dehradun, Ms Reena Jha Baliyan. Freshers were sensitised to campus safety through sessions on Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drug Awareness, Mental Health, and Cyberwise Digital Safety, along with a lecture on the Mulya Pravah 2.0 initiative on human ethics.
Cultural vibrancy marked the induction with Echoes of the Himalayas on Folk Arts, Theatre, Rituals and Heritage by Prof. (Dr.) Data Ram Purohit, a Mic-Check interaction with RJ Nidhi of Radio Jockey 93.5 FM, and the Curiosity to Creation lecture on research and innovation. Students bonded through an Ice Breaking Session, Mentor-Mentee Connect, and UU Campus Spotlight talent showcase, while the patriotic Tiranga Yatra with NCC cadets marked Independence Day.
Freshers were introduced to campus life through a Clubs orientation, a Library Session, and an Industrial Visit to Doordarshan and Akashvani, Dehradun. Recreational outings, including a visit to Mall of Dehradun and an Indoor Sports Event, encouraged community-building. Deeksharambh 2026 laid a strong foundation for the incoming batch, reaffirming Uttaranchal University's commitment to confident and socially responsible individuals.
