The Prakriti Club of the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University, organized Tree Plantation Drive in the university campus to celebrate World Nature Conservation Day on 28 July 2026. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of conserving natural resources and encouraging environmentally responsible practices among students and faculty members.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Vice President Ms. Ankita Joshi, Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director, USCS, and Prof. (Dr.) Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD-USCS, along with faculty members and students. Together, they planted saplings across the campus, reaffirming their collective commitment to environmental conservation and the development of a greener, more sustainable campus.
The celebration was centered around the theme "Protect Nature, Preserve Life", encouraging participants to embrace sustainable lifestyles and actively contribute to environmental preservation. As part of the nationwide initiative "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam", students and faculty planted trees in honour of their mothers, symbolising gratitude while promoting ecological balance and biodiversity.
The event served as a meaningful reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and that every small action contributes towards building a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future.
The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Ruchika Attri, Mr. Ravindra Kumar, and Mr. Aagman Kaparwan, with the support of Ms. Manisha Saini and Ms. Manisha Khanduja, whose dedicated efforts ensured the successful organisation of the event.
