An industrial visit to Giri Diagnostics was organized by School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University on 12thMay 2026 for the students of M.Sc. Biotechnology. The visit was conceptualized and conducted under the supervision of Prof. Ajay Singh (Director SALS) and was coordinated by Prof. Nishesh Sharma. In addition to providing an exposure to industrial practices and protocols, the core objective of the visit was to enhance the knowledge of students pertaining to implementation of cell culture technology in biomedical research with specific reference to cancer biology.
A key aspect of the visit was the technical session on how cell lines are utilized for cancer studies along with in vivo studies. In another session, valuable skill-based inputs pertaining to the development of biochemical and immunology based diagnostic kits were discussed with the students. During the visit, students also visited analytical labs, animal houses, and cell culture laboratories. A total of 36 students participated in the visit. The visit not only proved to be informative but also encouraged students to avail career opportunities in the field of cell culture technology and its application in healthcare.
