The School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, organized Ek Samvaad, a community outreach programme on 13th and 15th May 2026 at Ann Mary School, Dehradun for Class XII students which aimed at promoting mental health awareness, emotional wellbeing, and informed career decision-making. The programme provided a safe and interactive platform for students to discuss academic stress, anxiety, emotional challenges, and future career concerns.
The event included rapport-building activities, psychological screening for stress and anxiety, aptitude assessment, psychoeducational sessions on mental health and coping strategies, relaxation interventions such as Guided Imagery and Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation, and career guidance activities focused on self-awareness, multiple intelligences, and emerging career opportunities.
Students actively participated in reflective exercises, discussions, and the Balloon Bursting activity, which symbolically encouraged the release of stress and emotional burdens. The programme successfully enhanced awareness regarding mental health, reduced stigma surrounding help-seeking behaviour, and empowered students with practical coping skills and greater clarity regarding their strengths, interests, and future aspirations. The event was duly coordinated by Ms Mahika Ajaideep and Ms Shrestha Sen, Assistant Professors, School of Liberal Arts under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Kartikey, Director, SLA.
