Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized a virtual international webinar on “Academic Integrity and Professionalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Advancing SDG 4 – Quality Education on 28th April 2026. The webinar aimed to create awareness about the ethical challenges and responsibilities emerging in the academic and professional landscape due to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.
Dr. Patrick Harte, a Senior Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University with over two decades of academic leadership and teaching experience, was the resource person in the webinar. He has played a key role in programme development, governance, and innovation in learning, teaching and assessment.
The session was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM. Prof. Suri in his address, emphasized the deeper meaning embedded in the title of the webinar, explaining that while artificial intelligence is transforming the way knowledge is created and disseminated, it simultaneously raises critical concerns about authenticity and ethical conduct.
Dr. Patrick highlighted that Academic integrity in the age of Artificial Intelligence is essential to uphold ethical learning and professional responsibility. AI should be used as a supportive tool to enhance understanding, not replace independent thinking or originality. Aligning with SDG 4 – Quality Education, students must ensure transparency, proper citation, and verification of information. Responsible AI use fosters critical thinking, builds trust, and prepares learners for real-world challenges, promoting accountability and high-quality education outcomes in an increasingly digital and technology-driven environment.
The webinar was organized by Mr. Devesh Chand, Assistant Professor, UIM. A vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. (Dr.) Babita Rawat, BBA Program Coordinator, UIM who appreciated Dr. Patrick’s insightful talk and encouraged students to integrate sustainability in their academic and professional journey.
