Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organized an International Webinar on “Big Data Analytics in Action: Tools, Frameworks & Real-World Business Applications” on 22 April, 2026. The session featured Dr. Firdous Mohd Farouk, senior lecturer and head of department, School of Accounting and Finance, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, as the guest speaker.
The webinar began with the support of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, Uttaranchal University, and a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Tilottama Singh, Head of Department, UIM, Uttaranchal University. In her address, she emphasized the growing relevance of data analytics in today’s business environment and the need for students to develop analytical competencies.
During her session, Dr. Firdous highlighted that big data serves as the foundation of Artificial Intelligence and plays a critical role in modern decision-making. She remarked that “change is the only constant” in the digital era, and organizations must continuously adapt to technological advancements. She further explained how big data enables analysis at a large scale, often making the sample equivalent to the population, thereby enhancing accuracy. She also elaborated on the role of big data in personalized banking services and its growing importance in medical diagnosis in improving accuracy and early detection.
Dr. Firdous stated that emerging technologies not only transform industries but also generate new employment opportunities, encouraging students to continuously upskill and remain adaptable in a dynamic environment. The session was highly informative and interactive, providing valuable insights into tools, frameworks, and real-world applications of big data analytics.
The webinar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Shristi Chamoli, Assistant Professor, UIM, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, university leadership, participants, and the technical team for the successful conduct of the event.
