Amar Ujala, in collaboration with the Pro Bono Club of Law College Dehradun, organized an awareness program titled “POLICE KI PATHSHALA” at Uttaranchal University on 31 March 2026. The initiative aimed at enhancing legal awareness and promoting civic responsibility among students. The Chief Guest, Vivek Singh Kutiyal, CO Premnagar, delivered a highly practical and engaging session.

The discussion focused on real-life legal awareness, including how to approach police authorities and the functional role of police stations and public relations officers. The session moved beyond theoretical knowledge and emphasized the importance of informed and responsible citizenship. Special emphasis was placed on the role of law students, who are expected to possess heightened legal awareness and contribute meaningfully to society.

Reference to recent incidents, including the tragic student murder case of 23rd March, highlighted the need for vigilance and social responsibility. Mr. Vivek Singh Kutiyal stressed that while the police perform their duties diligently, public cooperation remains essential. Legal compliance under the Motor Vehicles Act, particularly regarding helmet usage, was discussed to address negligent attitudes among youth.

The session also covered pressing issues such as drug abuse, misuse of social influence, and the rise of aggression among youth, while emphasizing the importance of emergency services like dialing 112. Interactive discussions enabled students to clarify their doubts and better understand legal implications.

Prof. Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna, dean of Law College Dehradun, elaborated on the significance of law as a regulatory framework governing societal conduct and briefly addressed issues of safety and discipline. 

The collaborative efforts of Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University, the Pro Bono Club, and the police administration are highly commendable. Such initiatives play a vital role in spreading legal literacy, fostering awareness, and shaping responsible, law-abiding citizens.
