Uttaranchal University Emerges Globally in THE (ISR) Rankings 2026

Dehradun, India- Uttaranchal University has achieved a prestigious position in the
Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026, further strengthening its reputation as a forward-looking University contributing to interdisciplinary science by integrating insights from multiple academic disciplines to address global challenges. The ISR methodology consists of three pillars, each representing a stage in the life cycle of research projects: Inputs, Process and Outputs.

The 2026 edition of THE’s Interdisciplinary Science Rankings assessed more than 1,000 universities worldwide, including institutions from the US, Europe, Australia and Asia. Uttaranchal University has secured the 28th position nationally and the 301-350 global rank band, placing it among the country’s top institutions demonstrating strong performance across interdisciplinary science-related indicators. The Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026 have been released by the London-based Times Higher Education (THE).

With this recognition, Uttaranchal University stands alongside India’s esteemed institutions featured in the rankings- including IITs, NITs, prominent government universities and several reputed private institutions. The University humbly shares that it has been ranked above a few IITs, reflecting its steady progress and commitment to excellence.

This milestone highlights Uttaranchal University’s ongoing efforts in interdisciplinary research, innovation, and other key performance parameters, reaffirming its dedication to academic quality and global competitiveness. The University's top leadership expressed immense pride in this significant milestone.

The President, Sh. Jitender Joshi; Vice President, Ms. Ankita Joshi; the Executive Director (Student Affairs & IT), Dr. Abhishek Joshi; Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dharam Buddhi; Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna; and Registrar, Dr. Anuj Kumar Rana, jointly stated that this remarkable achievement reflects Uttaranchal University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research visibility and global engagement.

The leadership also acknowledged the pivotal role of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in steering quality benchmarks and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. They noted that IQAC’s efforts in promoting national and international initiatives, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and strengthening academic and research quality have directly contributed to this global recognition.

They extended their congratulations to Er. Rajesh Deorari (Director, IQAC), Er. Sudhir Jugran (Assistant Manager, IQAC), and all faculty members for their dedication, meticulous documentation and instrumental contributions that enabled the University to secure its place in this prestigious global ranking.
