The School of Liberal Arts successfully conducted a Community Engagement Activity from 27 to 28 November 2025, focusing on an Environmental Cleanliness Drive within the Uttaranchal University campus and surrounding riverside areas. The initiative was designed to create awareness among students about the significance of environmental cleanliness and motivated them to participate actively in maintaining hygienic surroundings.

Dr. Ravi Kumar Goyal and Ms. Akanksha, Assistant Professors, School of Energy and Eco-Sustainability, coordinated the event and guided the students throughout the entire duration. The drive began inside the university campus, where students actively engaged in collecting waste, identifying litter-prone zones, and participating in practices of basic waste segregation. Following the campus cleaning activity, students extended their efforts to the nearby local riverside areas outside the university. Accompanied by faculty coordinators, they cleaned public pathways, open ground spaces, and riverside areas by collecting scattered waste and ensuring proper disposal. The field experience outside the campus allowed students to recognize how small collective actions can lead to significant community-level impact.

In addition to promoting cleanliness, the activity aligned closely with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Approximately 100 students from BAJMC, BA English, and BA Psychology participated in the activity. The activity concluded with a short reflection session during which students shared their observations and learning experiences. By participating in this initiative, students acknowledged their contributions to environmental protection, reduction of waste accumulation, and support of the global effort toward building cleaner, healthier, and sustainable communities.
