Law College Dehradun organized a Certificate Course on Arbitration, Practice and Procedure

Law College Dehradun, under the aegis of its Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, organised a Certificate Course titled The Arbitration Weekly: Certificate Course on Arbitration, Practice and Procedurecomprising five expert-led lectures aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of arbitration mechanisms and professional practices. 

 

The first lecture, conducted virtually on 6 September 2025, focused on Drafting in Arbitration Agreements: Key Rules and Regulations. Delivered by Ms. Radhika Dubey, Fellow of CIArb and Standing Counsel for the Delhi High Court, the session explored arbitration clauses, multi-tier dispute resolution, jurisdiction issues, and the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The second lecture, held on 24 September 2025, was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro–Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University. Speaking on Beyond the Courtroom: Pathways in a Growing Global Profession—Arbitration, he discussed the evolution, mechanisms, and legal framework of ADR in India.  

 

The third lecture on 29 September 2025, featured Adv. Siddharth Sah, from the Nainital High Court, who spoke on Post-Arbitration Remedies: Unpacking Section 34. He explained the scope of challenges to arbitral awards through statutory provisions and case law illustrations. The fourth lecture, on 8 October 2025, was led by Dr. Hitesh Bhatt, Law Officer at NTPC Ltd. Speaking on Uncovering the Mystique of Arbitration Labyrinth, he elaborated on the arbitration process, historical context, statutory provisions, crucial judgments, and post-award remedies. 

 

The fifth and final lecture, held on 11 October 2025, was delivered by Adv. Gourab Banerji, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Discussing Cases That Have Shaped the Arbitration Landscape in India, he analyzed landmark domestic and international arbitral decisions. All five sessions witnessed excellent participation, meaningful interaction, and the ADR Centre’s commitment to promoting practical legal education, and a deeper understanding of dispute resolution among students.
