International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12th May every year to honor the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses. Our institution celebrated this day with great enthusiasm and respect. It marks the beginning of the nurse’s journey into profession and symbolize their commitment to the values of nursing.The celebration provides an opportunity to recognize the commitment of nurses toward patient care and their invaluable role in promoting public health.
The event was celebrated in the Seminar Hall of Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University. The event commenced with a candlelight ceremony in front of Nightingale’s portrait symbolizing the nursing fraternity’s enduring commitment to compassion and healing.
Dr. Kartikey, Joint Registrar (Planning, Governance and Liasoning) graced the event as the Chief Guest and applauded the students for their community service efforts. “Nursing is a silent service that brings comfort to countless lives. Your journey is one of purpose and humanity”, he said encouraging students to pursue excellence in their field.
The event started with Saraswati Vandana emphasizing the values of knowledge, service and responsibility and continued with a series of cultural programs performed by the students. This was followed by an insightful presentation on the theme “Strengthening Our Nurses for Crisis”, delivered by Mrs. Heena, Nursing Tutor, UCN.
Some of the outstanding students of the college were felicitated with awards for representing the core values of nursing, as follows:
• N – Mr. Momeen (VII Semester), representing Noble
• U – Ms. Saloni (VI Semester), representing Understanding
• R – Mr. Ayush (IV Semester), representing Responsible
• S – Ms. Kareena, (II semester) representing Sympathy
• E – Ms. Yogita (VII Semester), representing Empathy
These students represented the word “NURSE” through their qualities and contributions. A cake-cutting ceremony, refreshments and open dance marking a joyful end to the celebration the program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Manju Rautela, Nursing Tutor UCN.
