A workshop on “Projective Techniques: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) and Rorschach Comprehensive System” was successfully conducted on Sunday, 11 May 2025, by the School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun. The resource person for the session was Dr Surender Dhalwal, HOD and Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology and Research (DCRPR), NIEPVD, Dehradun. The primary objective of the workshop was to provide university students with a foundational and practical understanding of two widely recognized projective techniques used in psychological assessments. TAT and the Rorschach Comprehensive System. These tools are essential in clinical settings for exploring deeper layers of personality, emotional functioning, and cognitive processes. Dr Dhalwal, with his vast clinical and academic experience, offered insightful explanations about the historical background, theoretical framework, and administration procedures of both tools. Students were actively engaged through demonstrations, interpretation of sample protocols, and case-based discussions. The workshop also focused on helping students understand their own emotional and psychological patterns by interacting with projective materials, thereby fostering self-awareness alongside skill development. The workshop was highly beneficial for both undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students, as well as those from allied social science disciplines. Participants appreciated the hands-on approach and the opportunity to directly learn from a seasoned practitioner. Ethical considerations, limitations of projective testing, and cultural sensitivity were also addressed, making the workshop well-rounded and academically enriching. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session and positive feedback from students. Overall, the workshop achieved its intended goals and significantly contributed to the academic and professional development of the participating students. The event was organized by Dr Atika Tewari, Chairperson, Psychological Counselling Cell under the supervision of Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Director, School of Liberal Arts.
