On February 19, 2025, the E-Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized an Expert Lecture on “Innovation & Entrepreneurship.” The session featured Dr Anu Sayal, a distinguished academician, researcher, author, and public speaker with over 17 years of teaching and research experience in Mathematics and Statistics. She is currently serving as a Senior Lecturer and Stream Coordinator at Taylor's University, Malaysia, and holds the role of Academic Integrity Officer. The session commenced with an inaugural address by Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, Uttaranchal University, who welcomed the Guest Speaker, Dr Anu Sayal, with a sapling as a token of appreciation.
Prof Suri commenced the session by emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship and highlighting the growing parameters that shape the modern business landscape. Following this, Dr Sayal began her session by introducing the art of asking "Why", emphasizing its crucial role in fostering curiosity, identifying market gaps, and refining business ideas. She elaborated on the journey of an idea to a startup, illustrating how a simple thought can evolve into a successful business venture through structured planning and execution. She provided deep insights into the Business Model Canvas, breaking down its nine key building blocks, and demonstrating how it serves as a strategic tool to design, analyze, and improve business models effectively.
Seizing the moment when entrepreneurship and innovation were being discussed, the Director found it fitting to felicitate Ms. Vedika, our proud BBA II semester student for her exceptional work on a Sustainable Business Model and for launching an exclusive luxury collection of chemical-free and alcohol-free oil-based perfumes. Dr Navnit Kumar Shukla, Assistant Professor, UIM proposed a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the insightful seminar.
