World AIDS Day takes place on 1 December each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.
Faculty of Nursing, Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, organise awareness program on World AIDS Day. The main objective of this event is to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care around the world. The theme for World AIDS Day 2024 is "Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!". This theme calls for accessible healthcare that empowers people affected by HIV/AIDS. It also emphasizes the importance of protecting human rights and fostering inclusivity. The program compromised of chart presentation, health education and Nukkad Natak which focused on providing the society with knowledge of HIV-AIDS and reducing its stigma from society. Nukkad Natak was performed by the students of BSc Nursing 5th semester. Students also gave a brief session of health education with a theme to encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care around the world. At the end, all students raised slogans along with the health workers.
