The School of Agriculture (SOA) organized five days Management Development Programme on ‘Sustainable Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights in Agriculture’ from 20 to 26 November 2024. The program aimed to expand the knowledge and understanding of agriculture students on sustainable innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in agriculture. The different sessions were led by distinguished experts, who provided a balance of theoretical perceptions, interactive discussions, and real-world case studies.
The program was inaugurated by Mr Pushkar Singh Bisht, Assistant Director-DC MSME Haldwani who was invited as Chief Guest and Expert Speaker. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Singh, Director, Research & Innovation, Prof (Dr) Anita Gehlot, Head Research & Innovation Uttaranchal University also accompanied in the programme. The event started with the citation of guests and then lamp lighting. Later, Prof (Dr) Mahipal Singh, Director SOA addressed the gathering and highlighted on contemporary need for innovative research or sustainable agriculture. Mr Pushkar Singh Bisht briefed that government plays a crucial role in supporting MSMEs through policies, subsidies, and financial assistance to boost growth and innovation.
The program was featured with a diverse session that addressed the critical aspects like Fundamentals of IPR, IP audits and the economic, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sustainable Innovation in Agriculture, and Environmental Impacts of IPR. Prominent sessions included interactive brainstorming activities, and strategies for managing IPR aligned with international treaties. Speakers emphasized practical applications, equipping participants with actionable tools for strategic planning and impact assessment in agriculture.
The event was concluded with a valedictory session and Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr Rajendra Prasad, HoD-SOA. He summarized the important suggestions by speakers and acknowledged the contributions of participants and members of organizing committee.
