Fostering Innovation and Quality in IPR for Sustainable Growth

Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University hosted a one-day workshop titled "Fostering Innovation and Quality in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for Sustainable Growth" on 9 August 2024. The event was sponsored by Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology, Government of Uttarakhand. This event aimed to highlight the critical role of IPR in driving innovation and ensuring sustainable development. 

Two eminent keynote speakers, Dr Rajat Agrawal, Professor and Head, Department of Management, IIT-Roorkee and Mr Himanshu Goel, Scientist-II, Patent Information Centre, Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology, graced the occasion. Dr Durgesh Pant, Director General of Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology, Government of Uttarakhand, served as the event's chief guest and attended the workshop virtually. Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM anchored the workshop and Co-convener of the workshop Dr Rekha Verma managed other operations for smooth conduction of the workshop. 

The event was formally inaugurated by Mr Jitendra Joshi, President, Uttaranchal University, Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM and other dignitaries with the lighting of the lamp followed by Kulgeet of the varsity. 

The workshop convener Prof Pradeep Suri started the session by introducing the dignitaries to the participants and briefing them about the workshop. Dr Durgesh Pant virtually addressed the audience and discussed India’s push for fostering a culture of innovation in IP for economic growth. Renowned scientist Mr Himanshu Goel explained how efficient IPR management may result in long-term economic growth. He also discussed the process of patent writing and filing. Prof Rajat Agarwal, a leading innovation strategist, discussed strategies for fostering a culture of innovation within organizations. 

The workshop concluded with a panel discussion, where the speakers answered questions from the audience and discussed the future of IPR in promoting sustainable growth.
