An Awareness program on Anti Ragging

The Anti-Ragging Committee of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT) organized an awareness program on 13 August 2024 in Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of Uttaranchal University to emphasize the importance of maintaining a ragging-free environment within the campus. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Jitender Joshi, President, Uttaranchal University, Ms Ankita Joshi, Vice- President, Uttaranchal University, Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Dean, UIT, the HoDs of various departments in UIT and all the faculty members of UIT.  

The event included a compelling play presented by the students, which depicted the emotional and psychological trauma caused by ragging. Through powerful performances, the play highlighted the consequences faced by both victims and perpetrators, urging students to stand united against such practices. The committee members addressed the audience, explaining the stringent anti-ragging laws and the support systems available for victims. Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Director, UIT emphasized the institute's zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and encouraged students to foster a culture of respect and camaraderie. The play was beautifully coordinated by Aman Verma, BTech, CSE III year student under the supervision of Ms. Sakshi Koli, Cultural Club Coordinator, UIT. The program was included in the annual orientation cum induction program, Deeksharambh 2024, a cornerstone event that welcomed the new batch of students into the vibrant academic community of Uttaranchal University. The program was meticulously planned to introduce students to the university's ethos, academic environment, and various facets of life at UIT.
