Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University organised a one-day educational excursion 20 April 2024 to Ganga Prem Hospice, Raiwala, Rishikesh for the students of B.Sc. Nursing 4th Semester. During this insightful tour, Ms. Anjita Nath, a medical social worker at Ganga Prem Hospice, shared her knowledge on palliative care and the staff-patient interactions at the hospice, leaving a profound impact on our students. In the hospice's first session, Mrs. Manisha Joshi delivered a 1.5-hour session on palliative care, sparking a renewed interest and motivation among our students. After the session, they took us on a tour of the hospice, providing a firsthand experience of their operations and the compassionate home visits they conduct for patients in need of hospice care.

During the second session, Dr Taranjit Singh spoke about the different palliative internship courses available in palliative care and how we register for those courses after completing a B Sc in nursing.

In the third session, Ms Anjita Nath, a Medical Social Worker, gave an orientation tour of the library, patient ward, OPDs, temple, and canteen area. After that, the medical staff introduced our students to admitted patients and gave them all the medical information in divided groups. During this, students also interacted with all patients and collected their data.

During the fourth session, the staff, doctors, and other hospice members demonstrated other sources of palliative care, which helped us learn more about it. Toward the end of the tour, Ms Monika Massey, Nursing Tutor, UCN, and Ms Gulshan Attri, Nursing Tutor, UCN, expressed gratitude to the Hospice team for their assistance and positive outcome.
