Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University organized National Mediation Competition in two phases featuring both online and offline sessions under the aegis of Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre. The Competition attracted collaborations from prestigious law firms such as PSL Advocates and Solicitors and Ray Legal, both top notch corporate litigation and dispute resolution entities. Moreover, organizations such as the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre at Hyderabad, SCC Online and the Eastern Book Company took a keen interest in the organizational intricacies of the event as sponsors.


The Quarter-Final Rounds and the Semi-Final Rounds were scheduled on 04.11.2023 and the participants were greeted by the Office Bearers of the ADR Centre in the Participants’ Orientation and words of encouragement were delivered by the Director of the Centre, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor Uttaranchal University and Dean, Law College Dehradun.


05.11.2023 entailed the Finale of the competition including teams from NLIU Bhopal, St. Wilfred’s Institute of Law (Mumbai University) and MNLU Mumbai. The Panel of Expert Assessors included luminaries such as, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Talwant Singh, Mr. Suvigya Awasthy and Ms. Richa Bakshi. The Valedictory Ceremony commenced, chaired by His Lordship as Chief Guest and Co-Chaired by Prof. Bahuguna and Guests of Honour Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director, Uttaranchal University, Mr. Awasthy and Ms. Bakshi also Co-Presided the ceremony. Therein the participants were addressed by the dignitaries on the dais and were made aware of the far-reaching implications of Alternative Dispute Resolution as a blooming career prospect for lawyers and law students alike.

Thereafter, winners of various awards were declared;

  1. Best Mediator- MNLU, Mumbai
  2. Best Negotiating Pair- Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida
  3. Runner-Up Mediator- St. Wilfred’s Institute of Law (Mumbai University)
  4. Runner-Up Negotiating Pair- MNLU, Mumbai
  5. Winner Mediator- NLIU, Bhopal
  6. Winner Negotiating Pair- NLIU, Bhopal
