Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organized a guest session with a Dr.Geeta Rani, Assistant Professor of Psychology, School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University on “Mental Well-Being”. Dr. Geeta Rani holds a license from the Rehabilitation Council of India (CRR No. A50506) and is considered as a distinguished figure in the field of psychology. The Seminar took place on 09 October, 2023 for the students of various programmes from UIM. Dr. Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM welcomed the Guest Speaker of the seminar, expressing gratitude for her valuable presence.  


Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM initiated the talks and emphasized the paramount importance of mental health and well-being in the academic and personal development of children. His views underscored the institution's commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also the mental wellness of its student community. 


The speaker’s discourse began with a profound exploration of the basic concept of well-being, elucidating its comprehensive nature, which extends beyond physical health to encompass mental, emotional, and social dimensions. The speaker passionately advocated that true health is an unattainable goal without robust mental health, firmly establishing the inseparable link between the two. In her address, she posited that mental health is essentially a state of mind, intricately influenced by a multitude of factors, including genetics, environment, and personal life experiences. 


Dr. Rani shared insights into the four "happy brain chemicals" - Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphin - which play a pivotal role in fostering feelings of happiness, love, and overall mental wellness. Her guest lecture left an indelible impact on the audience, prompting a collective realization of the intricate tapestry of mental well-being and the compelling need to prioritize and nurture it for a healthier and more fulfilling life. The session was an interactive one and students proactively asked questions. In the end Dr. Rekha Verma, Associate Professor, UIM, proposed a vote of thanks.
