Seminar on “Inspiring Quality Research and Innovation Using IEEE Publications”

Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University organized a Seminar on “Inspiring Quality Research and Innovation Using IEEE Publications” on 22 August 2023, for the fresher students. The seminar's objective was to inform attendees of the crucial contribution that IEEE publications make to developing a culture of innovation and quality in research. The guest speaker of the Seminar was Mr. Ranbir S Sedhey, IEEE Client Services Manager. The program started with the felicitation of guest by Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitendra Joshi Ji. Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma Dean, USCS highlighted the wide range of knowledge offered by IEEE’s. Students who interact with these publications improve both their knowledge of current trends and their understanding of the complex processes that support innovation. 


The first session was taken by Dr. Ramveer Tanwar Chief Librarian; he explained that the library is regarded as the center of any academic institution. With a wide range of books, periodicals, journals, magazines, research papers and online resources every student can expand their knowledge. He talked about the Online Public Access catalogue (OPAC), Wi-Fi Internet Facility and collection of physical books covering various academic disciplines, including text and reference books. 


After that the guest speaker of the seminar Mr. Ranbir S Sedhey elaborated the crucial importance of using IEEE publications with the difference between conference paper and journal paper. Further explained open access tools like IEEE Xplore, the digital library which allows authors to publish their articles in a way that makes them freely accessible to the public. He also appreciated that more than 700 research papers are published in IEEE from Uttaranchal University.  


At the end vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sameer Dev Sharma HOD USCS. The event was successfully coordinated by MOC Mr. Harshit Gupta, Ms. Manisha Saini, Ms. Manisha Khanduja, Mr. Praveen Shah and Mr. Shubham Sharma with the support of volunteer students and technical staff.
