Slogan Writing Competition and Oath-Taking Ceremony held on Anti-Tobacco Day aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and promoting a tobacco-free society. The event was organized by School of Liberal Arts in collaboration with Uttaranchal School of Nursing to engage the community, particularly youth, in the fight against tobacco consumption and its associated health risks. The event began with an introduction to the significance of Anti-Tobacco Day and the importance of reducing tobacco consumption, which was highlighted by Priya Juyal from BA (H) Psychology, semester IV who compered the whole event. The Slogan Writing Competition was conducted in virtual mode where students from both the departments participated and it started with the presentation of the slogans written by them, which explicitly talked about the harm of tobacco consumption. Slogans were persuasive enough to encourage people to stop consuming them. Ms Mansi Franklin, Nursing Tutor, judged the event. It was followed by a speech by Sayansh Kaushal, a student from BA (H) Psychology, semester IV. Smriti Gulati proposed the vote of thanks from BA(H) English, semester IV. Smriti Gulati won the competition, Tripti Kashyap was the first runner up and Deepesh Garg was the second runner up. The event was coordinated by Ms Shikha Bharti as well as by Ms Mansi Franklin and was attended by the faculties and students of both the department. Further participants took an oath, pledging to refrain from tobacco use and actively promote awareness about its harmful effects. The oath-taking ceremony instilled a sense of responsibility among participants, motivating them to avoid tobacco and spread awareness to create a healthier environment.
