Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University organised a two-day International Conference on "Innovation in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences: From Discovery to Practice" held on 21-22 April 2023. The conference was sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Mankind Pharma Ltd Unit-II, Poanta Sahib, Nitin Lifesciences Ltd, Bank of Baroda, ERP, CBS Publisher and Distributor, and Anurag Enterprises. The conference was inaugurated with Lamp Lighting Ceremony followed by University Anthem by Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Dr. Durgesh Pant, Director General, UCOST, Prof. (Dr.) Satbir Singh Sehgal, Vice President, Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean UIPS and convenor of the conference, Dr Tarun Parashar, Co-Convenor and Dr Nidhi Nainwal Organising Secretary.
The gathering was addressed by eminent Keynote Speaker Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Jain, Professor, Dr. HGV, Sagar, MP, India. The first technical keynote session was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Bikash Medhi, Head, Pharmacology PGIMER, Chandigarh, India. He delivered his talk on “Drug Development: Non-clinical Toxicity Studies, how to File Investigational New Drug (IND) Applications”. The 2nd session was delivered by Dr. Kamal Dua, Senior Lecturer of Pharmacy, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia on “Dissecting Drug Delivery to the molecular level in lung disease”. The 3rd session was delivered by Mr Abhishek Morris, DGM Quality (QA & QC) on “Overview of Industry to Academia demand” and 4th session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Kylie Williams, Head, Discipline of Pharmacy, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia on “Pharmacy Practice Research and Education”. The 5th Session was addressed by Dr. Sanghapal D Sawant, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR, Jammu, on “Drug Discovery from Natural Products” and 6th session was addressed by Dr. Supriyo Saha, Associate Professor, UIPS, Uttaranchal University on “Computationally establish a new role of Iridoid in the Treatment of Zika and Influenza (H3N2) Viruses. Day one ended with Cultural Events performed by the students.
The second day started with 7th technical session of the day which was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Brian Oliver, Associate Head of School, School of Life Sciences, the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, on “Investigating Cellular and Molecular Mechanism in Respiratory Disease”. And the Last session of the day was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sachin K. Singh Professor, Lovely Professional University on “Interplay of probiotics and polysaccharides in drug delivery”.
In the end, 250 Posters and Oral presentations were presented, and Prize for Winners was announced.
At the end of the conference, the gathering was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Convener of the event and Dr Tarun Parashar Co-Convener and Dr Nidhi Nainwal, Organising Secretary, thanked all the Special Guests and Keynote Speakers, Participants and all the faculty members of the department for the successful completion of the International Conference.
