Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized one day workshop in collaboration with Division of Research and Innovation, on the theme: “Drafting Effective Research Proposal” on 5 August 2022. Research proposals are usually sponsorship requests for the research, commonly in the area of science and academia. Proposals are mainly assessed on the cost and potential impact of the proposed research and the strength of the proposed plan implementation. To move along with this vision, there is a need to train, reorient and stimulate researchers on writing research proposals. Thus, this program was an effort to deeply enrich the knowledge of all participants related to different proposal agencies, Dos and Don’ts to be considered while writing the proposal and exploring different interdisciplinary opportunities.


The inaugural session of the program was held on 5 August 2022 at 11:30 AM. Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh, Dean- Research and Innovation and Prof. (Dr.) Anita Gehlot, Head- Research and Innovation, Uttaranchal University, were the resource persons of the workshop. At the outset, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM addressed the gathering and welcomed the resource persons of the day. He motivated the faculty members by emphasizing on the importance of research in Academics as well as for the Academician. He stated that research proposals are one of the ways through which academicians can help in solving the social problems as well as can contribute in the development of any country.


Prof Gehlot talked about different aspects related to the assessment of research proposal application. She discussed in detail the layout and key components like title, goals, literature review, research questions and tentative outcomes within a timeline of the research proposal. Further, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh highlighted the importance of experience and knowledge, principal investigator requires getting the proposal approved. He encouraged the faculty members to upskill themselves and think in the direction of interdisciplinary collaboration, which is most important in today’s fast changing technological environment.


Lastly, the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Neeti Misra, Assistant Professor, UIM. Overall, the session was very insightful and interactive which captured the audience attention and kept them engaged.
