Uttaranchal College of Nursing organized the celebration of Breast-Feeding Week 2026 on 10 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and dedication. The program was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Midhu Kurian & the Department of Child Health Nursing. The event's aim of celebrating World Breastfeeding Week is to align with the global theme, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works," by educating nursing students, empowering new mothers, and promoting evidence-based lactation practices in clinical and community settings.
The students actively participated in the event's address and clearly common cultural misconceptions and lactation concerns through community outreach, nukkad, and health education talks. Direct interaction sessions with antenatal and postnatal mothers focusing on proper latching, maternal nutrition, and sustainable family support. The event concluded with the last local mothers asking questions and clearing doubts; CHC staff praised our students for their help. The program ended with a pledge to support family health.
