The School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, successfully organized the five-day workshop on “Estimation of Iron and Manganese in Soil and Water for Optimizing Plant Growth from 11th May to 15th May, 2026. The workshop was organized with the objective of enhancing knowledge and practical skills related to the estimation of iron and manganese in soil and water samples using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The workshop was organized for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture Semester VIII. The event commenced with an Inaugural Address by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, HoD, School of Agriculture, who highlighted the importance of copper in a living system & significance of monitoring Iron and Manganese levels in soil and irrigation water for sustainable agriculture and optimum crop productivity. The inaugural address was followed by a lecture by Dr. Atin Kumar, coordinator of workshop, on the topic “Assessment of Iron & Manganese in Soil and Water: Concepts, Sources, and Analytical Workflow. Participants were introduced to laboratory procedures such as sample collection, preparation, and the use of instruments for Iron and Manganese estimation. The inaugural session was attended by a large number of students who greatly benefited from the lecture.
