World Soil Day Celebrated at the School of Agriculture

The event began with motivational words delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, School of Agriculture. He highlighted the importance of World Soil Day and encouraged students to understand the value of soil conservation for sustainable agriculture. 

Dr. Manoj Kumar from Forest Ecology & Climate Change Division, FRI, delivered an expert talk on the topic “Soil Degradation and Its Mitigation through Bioremediation.” He explained the causes of soil degradation and discussed bioremediation as an effective approach to improve soil health. 

A field demonstration on soil testing techniques was also organised, where students learned proper soil sampling methods, sampling depth, and precautions to avoid contamination. The demonstration helped students understand the importance of accurate soil sampling for nutrient analysis. 

The programme was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad, HoD, School of Agriculture, who congratulated the participants, extended his best wishes, and delivered the Vote of Thanks. The event was coordinated by Ms. Mansi Nautiyal, Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture. All faculty members of the School of Agriculture along with a large number of students actively participated and contributed to the success of the programme.
