The Biogenerika Student Club of the School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, successfully organized an impactful World AIDS Day programme on 1st December 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and express solidarity with individuals living with HIV. World AIDS Day reminds us of the importance of compassion, education, and continuous efforts toward prevention, treatment, and eliminating stigma. It reinforces our collective responsibility to build a future where HIV is no longer a threat to health and well-being.
The programme featured an inspiring address by Dr. Himani Badoni, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Government Degree College, Bithyani Yamkeshwar, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. She delivered a lecture on “HIV Pathophysiology and the Evolving Landscape of Antiretroviral Therapy.” Dr. Badoni emphasized that AIDS is not just a medical issue but a global concern that affects individuals, families, and communities. She highlighted the remarkable progress achieved over the decades in HIV diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Her message motivated students to take proactive steps in spreading awareness, encouraging preventive measures, and promoting positive and stigma-free living.
The event concluded with a detailed PowerPoint presentation prepared by members of the Biogenerika Student Club. It covered key aspects of HIV awareness, including HIV pathophysiology, the role of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), the immunological impact of the virus, recent advancements in therapeutic approaches, and future directions in HIV treatment. Another presentation titled “Heroes of Hope” showcased inspiring stories of AIDS survivors who have contributed significantly to society through resilience and advocacy.
As responsible citizens and students, it is essential to promote accurate information, encourage safe practices, and uphold dignity and kindness toward everyone. Small actions such as sharing knowledge or challenging stigma help bring society closer to an AIDS-free world.
Such programmes demonstrate Uttaranchal University’s commitment to holistic and socially responsible education, nurturing awareness, empathy, and active participation among students.
