Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Uttaranchal University, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), conducted a powerful community awareness programme on World AIDS Day on 1st December 2025 at Kotra Santaur. The outreach initiative focused on empowering ASHA workers and the residents of the adopted village with accurate knowledge about HIV/AIDS, emphasizing prevention, early diagnosis, safe health practices, and the urgent need to break societal stigma and misconceptions surrounding the disease. To convey the message effectively, UIPS students presented a compelling Nukkad Natak (street play). Through expressive performances, real-life scenarios, and powerful dialogues, the play highlighted the challenges faced by individuals living with HIV and stressed the importance of compassion, inclusion, and awareness; it drew significant attention from the community, making the learning experience both engaging and memorable.
The programme received active support and participation from the village Pradhan, Mr. Vikash Joshi, who praised the institute's efforts and encouraged villagers to adopt a positive and informed outlook towards HIV/AIDS.
This meaningful initiative was carried out with the valuable support and encouragement of Dr. Vikash Jakhmola, Director of UIPS, whose guidance continues to inspire the institute’s commitment toward community upliftment and public health education.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Assistant Professors Mr. Ashish Singh Chauhan and Mrs. Bhavya Gupta, who interacted with participants and emphasized the role of awareness in building a healthier, stigma-free society. Mrs. Pooja Negi and Mrs. Shalu Verma, also Assistant Professors at UIPS, efficiently coordinated the entire event.
