Law College Dehradun organized a seven-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 1 to 8 September 2025, on Quality Legal Research – Tools and Techniques, under the aegis of the Departmental Internal Quality Assurance Cell (DIQAC), in collaboration with the LCD Library. The programme aimed to enhance legal research as well as the teaching qualities of the faculty members. Experts in the field of legal research from Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis, Hein Online, Turnitin, ERP and legal research were formally invited to share their knowledge.
The first technical session was conducted by Mr. Amrendra Singh, who delivered an insightful lecture on the use of Manupatra, one of the leading legal research databases in India. Ms. Sarita Patnaik’s session encompassed an extensive and elaborate explanation on all the features of LexisNexis along with all its search options. Mr. Ajay Pratap Singh initiated his talk on the topic “A Training Session on SCC Online”. The 4th session by Mr. Ajay Pratap Singh was on Hein Online database, a premier online research platform which provides multidisciplinary periodicals, essential government documents, international resources, case law and much more. Mr. Gautam Raval explained the use of Turnitin software. The 6th session spearheaded by Mr. Suraj highlighted the key features of the UU ERP system.
The proceedings of the 7th session were commenced successfully by Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro VC, Uttaranchal University and Dean, Law College Dehradun. The technical session started with an enriching discussion on the topic of Legal Research. All sessions of the FDP were moderated by Dr. Aishwarya Singh and Prof. Dr. Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, who efficiently guided the flow of the session, with Mr. Mukul Rawat formally introducing the speakers, highlighting their expertise and contribution in the domain of legal research. The sessions proved to be highly engaging and informative, offering participants a hands-on understanding of digital research techniques.
